Stanstead Road planning success

Possibly the smallest job in the office, this project providing independent flats for young adults with Asperger syndrome achieved planning consent last Thursday.

The scheme sits on an open end-of-terrace site in Forest Hill and houses four one-bedroom flats and a communal social lounge space and garden. The architecture takes its cues from the terrace of Victorian cottages next door and turns the acute corner with a gently curving facade.

Residents will have access to support to enable them to live independently. It is the culmination of a campaign by a group of families in Lewisham to fill a gap for this special needs group – they are neither eligible for help under the Care Act nor are able to live totally independently. Our client, Birnbeck Housing Association, was selected by the Council to deliver the project.
