Millfields Community School was selected as one of eight strategic locations within the London Borough of Hackney for a new Sure Start Children’s Centre. Working with Hackney Learning Trust, we have created space for 44 additional childcare places and a community room that offers targeted health and social care services. The designs extends the school's offer to provide excellent preschool facilities and full childcare support to meet the needs of the local community.
Our design integrates new facilities with the existing school buildings, and operates with an independent entrance. The configuration locates play rooms in order of age group on the ground floor, which wraps around the site to enclose a secure outdoor learning space orientated to receive optimum winter sun. The upper level has flexible community space, administration, and outdoor play areas.
