Jo McCafferty

Director

Jo McCafferty is an architect and has been a Director at Levitt Bernstein since 2006. She is known for designing and delivering innovative housing of all scales and types, campaigning for housing quality and advising clients on design standards.

Jo is one of the Mayor of London’s Design Advocates 2025-2028 and a member of the judging panel of the Housing Design Awards. She is also co-author of the acclaimed second edition of The Housing Design Handbook and champions the involvement of children and young people in design, most recently giving evidence at the Select Committee Hearing for Children, Young People and the Built Environment. Jo was Chair of the NLA’s Expert Panel on Housing from 2020 to 2026 and is co-producer of the award-winning ‘The White Flats’ film, which celebrates the residents’ lived experience in the Highgate New Town estate in North London. She sits on Design Review Panels for Hackney, and Croydon.
