Planning consent for Redbrick Estate

Our proposals for the redevelopment of the Redbrick Estate in Old Street have received planning permission from London Borough of Islington.

The Council led scheme provides 55 homes, new community facilities and retail space, and significant improvements to the communal outdoor spaces and parking areas as part of LB Islington’s council home building programme.

Our brief was to examine ways we could improve the environment for existing residents, whilst offering much needed new homes for local people. The proposals involve the demolition of the existing garages and retail space, which will then be reprovided alongside a new larger community centre and three new residential buildings.

On completion, the redevelopment of the Redbrick Estate will set an example for estate renewal, combining the provision of new council homes for rent and for sale, whilst improving amenity and community facilities for the existing residents.
