Meanwhile transformation of historic high street at Aberfeldy New Village

Working alongside EcoWorld and Poplar HARCA, we are leading the design of the transformation of the Aberfeldy Estate in east London. To help boost business and increase footfall during lockdown, High Street Works (a joint venture between Jan Kattein Architects and Meanwhile Space) has developed a variety of creative strategies, including a colourful makeover of Aberfeldy Street using local residents and traders' donated fabrics and over 874 liters of paint in 200 different colours. This has been designed by Jan Kattein Architects and painted by Cuttle Construction and The London Mural Company.

It's a meanwhile – and crucial – revitalisation of the historic high street as the regeneration develops. The street has also been featured on an ITV segment, available here.
