For this year's London Festival of Architecture, we supported the Eid Al-Adha celebrations, for an afternoon of food, joy and togetherness at the ‘Feldy Community Centre. Honouring the voices that shape Poplar, whose traditions and stories are central to the life of this area, we asked local people: “What is your favourite thing about living in Aberfeldy?”
We recorded their responses in the form of printed flags, which came together to create an installation outside the ‘Feldy Centre. The personal reflections hung like bunting across the façade, forming a vivid, visual chorus of community voices. Children were also invited to do chalk drawings in the square, transforming it into a canvas and play space.
From celebration and sense of belonging, to play areas, nature and open spaces, everyday life and convenience, residents are clearly delighted with the community that has been created at Aberfeldy and we are immensely proud of helping to shape it.
Poplar HARCA and Ecoworld’s teams continue to do an incredible job of putting the community’s needs at the heart of what they do, and the ‘Feldy resonates with people’s sense of belonging, providing a space for them to thrive together.
Thank you, Victoria Coakley, and Rujina Ali for letting us be a part of these wonderful celebrations!
