Portland stone revealed at Wilkins Terrace

As part of creating a central outdoor space for UCL students and staff to study and socialise, we are enclosing Wilkins Terrace with a new ‘fourth façade’. To respect the classical courtyard composition, we are utilising Portland stone – fossils and all – and Georgian proportions, whilst interpreting the surrounding classical architecture in a contemporary way and disguising the buildings' services. This has been a big week for the project – the scaffolding has been taken down meaning it's not long until the staff and students can start enjoying the new space.
