LFA 2017: Building memories at Bermondsey Spa

On Saturday 10 June, we'll be hosting at event at Bermondsey Spa as part of the London Festival of Architecture.

The theme for the festival this year is ‘memory’. Architecture is centred on people and their experiences of spaces, and with this in mind, our event will explore how people feel about their neighbourhoods through innovative and interactive engagement.

The centrepiece of the event will be a striking pavilion, which will evolve throughout the day through contributions from local people and visitors based on their knowledge, experiences and memories of Bermondsey. Each person will take a ribbon, and walking through the structure, answer a series of questions by tying their ribbon at the relevant spots. Slowly, the ribbons will build up; representing the way that memories accumulate to tell a story about a place, and creating a tunnel where people can learn about the neighbourhood through the responses of others. With kids' games and face painters too - there will be plenty of fun for all the family!

Hosted in collaboration with the Hyde Group, and involving local community groups and schools, the event will be a celebration of community engagement and Bermondsey’s unique character. Please come along to tell us what Bermondsey means to you!
