Central House is a substantial 5,500m2, 7 storey building adjacent to St Pancras Church, purchased by UCL in 2009.
The phased project provides space for two administrative occupants, the Development and Corporate Communications Office and Information Systems, and academic space for the Graduate School of the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.
The administrative floors are designed with a mix of cellular and open space offices, with meeting rooms, kitchens and storage space. Seminar and teaching facilities are also provided for the Bartlett, in addition to research space for postgraduate students. Daylight from three sides provides an excellent ambience for all inner open plan spaces, and fully glazed partitions are used to maximise daylight penetration. The extensive use of glazing helps to create a light, modern environment. Personal and general storage is well distributed throughout.
