The Aylesbury South-West Corner project includes Phase 1A of the London Borough of Southwark’s Aylesbury Area Action Plan, which aims to regenerate the infamously dilapidated and deprived Aylesbury Estate and its environs. Site A is the first building of this phase and provides 52 dwellings and a replacement Resource Centre.
The housing includes private sale, shared ownership, and affordable homes for rent which are carefully designed so that the scheme is externally tenure-blind. All units are dual aspect and orientated to face south or west. Space standards were arrived at after extensive consultation with existing residents and generally exceed Parker Morris standards by 10%.
Designed to Code for Sustainable Homes, Level 4, the scheme has very high levels of insulation and centralised community heating plant that can be linked to future phases of Phase 1A and Southwark’s MUSCO (Multi-Utility Services Company) boroughwide energy scheme.
