Millfields Community School is one of eight strategic locations within Hackney chosen for a new Sure Start Children’s Centre.

This extends the umbrella of the school to provide excellent pre-school children's facilities and full childcare support to meet the needs of the local community

The design is integrated into the existing school buildings, but operates with an independent entrance. The configuration locates play rooms in order of age group on the ground floor. These spaces wrap around the site to enclose a secure outdoor learning space which receives optimum winter sun. The upper level has flexible community space, administration and outdoor play spaces.
