Aylesbury ARC, Southwark

Details

The Aylesbury Resource Centre forms part of the first phase of the regeneration of the Aylesbury Estate in the London Borough of Southwark and is therefore intended to act as a flagship statement for the new
estate. It occupies the ground and first floors of the building, with residential units rising an additional 4 stories over.

The building is a multi-agency centre to provide training, social and care facilities to support people with a wide range of disabilities living in the community. It includes workshops, arts & crafts rooms, assisted bathrooms, office and meeting rooms as well as a Learning Centre including an ADL kitchen to encourage recently disabled people to live independently.

The building is designed to meet the NHS NEAT energy rating of Excellent. This is achieved by various passive measures such as a green roof and high levels of daylight and insulation, with cutting edge technology such as an air source heat pump and a centralised heating plant shared with the housing for maximum efficiency.
